Steel fabrication company expanding operations in Florence County
FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A company is bringing new jobs to Florence County.
SteelFab, Inc., a steel fabrication company, announced it is expanding its operations in Florence County with the construction of a second steel fabrication facility.
The announcement was made on Thursday and said the company’s $38,925,000 investment will create 108 new jobs.
The second facility, located at 500 Freedom Blvd. in Florence, will produce fabricated steel parts for U.S. naval defense purposes.
Operations are expected to be online in September 2027.
“Every new job created provides opportunities for Florence families, strengthens our workforce, and helps build a brighter future for our community. We are proud that SteelFab has once again chosen to invest in Florence, and we deeply value the partnership we have built together over the years,” said Florence Mayor Lethonia Barnes. “Their continued confidence reflects the talent, dedication, and work ethic of our workforce, while also contributing to America’s defense industrial base and the long-term economic strength.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project.
The council also awarded a $300,000 Set-Aside grant to Florence County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction
The company began operations in Florence in 1988, when it opened its first South Carolina structural steel fabrication facility.
