Police investigating after human remains found in vehicle in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Police are investigating after human remains were found inside a vehicle in Florence on Wednesday.

Police said officers responded to Sewanee Avenue after a homeowner reported a foul odor.

Investigators said a vehicle on the property had been sitting unused for some time, and a deceased person was found inside.

Police said an initial investigation did not indicate foul play, but they are working with the Florence County Coroner’s Office to complete a full investigation.

The investigation will include an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
