FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A man on the run in connection with one murder investigation is now wanted in another.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that Kadeem McFadden is wanted for murder in connection with a Christmas Eve shooting on Bozy Road in the Scranton area.

McFadden, of Lake City, is accused of shooting Kobe Godfrey multiple times, causing Godfrey’s death.

Sheriff TJ Joye said officials determined McFadden was the suspect from evidence and his “violent” history in romantic relationships.

“We knew he was seeing this female; there was a relationship with the other man from Conway that led to this shooting, so we put two and two together, and his history as well led us to this assumption,” Joye said. “And a lot of the evidence that was left that we processed all led to him.”

The sheriff said McFadden is armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Joye added he believes the suspect is still in county limits.

“He is used to this lifestyle, if you will,” Joye said. “He is on the run, and he is desperate, so we will find him.”

He is 6-foot-1, weighs about 165 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.

McFadden has been on the run for nearly five months now. Joye said the clock is ticking to find him before he kills somebody else.

“Listen, he’s already committed two murders, life to him means absolutely nothing, and he will kill again; it’s just a matter of time,” Joye said.

Timmonsville police arrested McFadden in July in connection with a dog-fighting case.

While out on bond for that case, Timmonsville police named McFadden as one of the suspects in the deadly August shooting of 37-year-old Calvin Sowells.

Timmonsville police called McFadden armed and dangerous and said he was wanted on charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and commission of a violent crime while out on bond for a previous violent offense.

Timmonsville Police Chief James Allen said McFadden has been on the run since, and the agency has not arrested McFadden on those charges.

Allen added that the U.S. Marshals Service was tasked with helping to locate McFadden.

Years earlier, in 2021, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested McFadden in connection with a double shooting in the area of West Palmetto Street and Alligator Road.

Two people died after multiple shots were fired into a vehicle.

The sheriff’s office identified McFadden as a suspect and charged him with multiple offenses, including several counts of attempted murder.

Public records show prosecutors dropped the attempted murder charges, but McFadden pleaded guilty to discharging firearms into a dwelling.

A judge sentenced him to six years with credit for 1,262 days served, more than three years, the records show. His sentence also included three years’ probation and monitored house arrest.

McFadden was also charged in a 2020 armed robbery case, but prosecutors dropped that charge.
