Deputies investigating after bones found on Robeson County construction site

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after bone fragments were found at a construction site.

Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said construction workers discovered a bone around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday while transporting dirt from one area of the site to another during grading operations.

Officials said a search of the area led to the discovery of additional bone fragments.

Investigators said it has not yet been determined what type of bones were found.

The sheriff’s office Crime Scene and Criminal Investigations divisions are investigating. The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified and will assist.

Deputies advised that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
