Coroner: Victim identified in deadly Pee Dee shooting

DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The coroner’s office has identified the victim of a shooting in Dillon County on Sunday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Darrick Jones. He had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead moments later, Coroner Donnie Grimsley said.

Dillon County Sheriff Jamie Hamilton said that the shooting happened on Smutherman Drive off Highway 9 in the Riverdale Community near Dillon.

Hamilton also confirmed that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is helping with the investigation.

Jones’ body will be sent in for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
