ECHO to hold Homeless Veterans and Families Housing and Benefits event in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Eastern Carolina Homeless Organization (ECHO) will hold a homeless veterans and families housing and benefits event, on October 28, from 8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot, located at 851 Broadway Street.

Service providers from Horry and Georgetown County will be on hand to assist veterans who are in need of assistance with the following:

* Housing Formation                 

* Veteran Benefits                         

* Eligibility Screening for SSVF Program      

 * Legal Services

* Social and Family Services              

* Substance Abuse Prevention

* Transportation Services                

* Services Provided By Churches

* Domestic Violence         

* Education and Employment Opportunities

* VA Health Care Benefit Information          

* Mental Health Services

Made From Scratch Catering will provide breakfast to vendors from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

As of 1:30 a.m. Thursday, 3,273 Duke Energy Progress customers are without power in both North and South Carolina. In our viewing area, Marion County is experiencing the greatest number of outages with 1,094 people without power.

    The person of interest in the double-murder and bank robbery in Conway on Monday is in custody. Brandon MIchael Council was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina Wednesday, along with two other people, authorities there confirmed.  Brandon Michael Council was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of two CresCom bank employees during a bank robbery at the CresCom Bank in Conway on Monday afternoon.
