COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) — South Carolina is closing in on a deal to have their starting QB return to Columbia in 2026.

ESPN and On3 are reporting that LaNorris Sellers is working towards a deal to return to the Gamecocks for his Redshirt Junior season.

“He’s indicated to the staff he’ll be returning. The sides are the expected to finalize a deal soon.” ESPN’s Pete Thamel tweeted.

Sellers is deciding between returning to South Carolina, entering the transfer portal or declaring for the NFL Draft.

The quarterback struggled in his 3rd season in Columbia but still threw for over 2,400 yards with 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. His rushing numbers were down significantly however going from 674 yards in 2024 to 270 yards in 2025.

South Carolina has not made an official announcement on his status.
