MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Developers of a new Margaritaville Resort coming to the Grand Strand cleared an important hurdle.

City of Myrtle Beach spokesperson Meredith Denari confirmed that the Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board (CAB) approved all the designs for the Margaritaville Resort.

The project is now cleared to go to permitting.

Last December, developers submitted plans for a new Margaritaville resort between 17th Avenue North and 18th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

The beach resort would transform a vacant parking lot and plot of land along Ocean Boulevard. It will also include a hotel, pool, parking site, restaurants, bars, and much more.

Plans submitted to the CAB show the hotel with 17 floors with a penthouse. Floors one through six will be garage space. The total proposed square footage will be over 400,000 square feet.

In October, CAB members expressed concerns with some of the design choices.

At Thursday’s CAB meeting, developers presented two new options for the bridge, including an option without attached palm trees and a dimensional sun. They also presented a full landscaping plan.

There’s no set date as to when permitting will be complete.
