DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Darlington County Sheriff's Office and search crews are still searching for a Darlington man who was reported missing Friday morning.

“We need to find something. We need to find anything ,the only thing we have found is the bicycle and that's it,” Mario James, Son of Moise James.

Law enforcement and a search party are working to locate 68-year-old Moise Shadrack James III, officials say. Representatives from the CUE Center for Missing Persons are also assisting with the search. According to DCSO officials, the search continued in the Society Hill area at the Darlington County Airport, Monday morning. Officials say they are using a helicopter, horses, and dogs to search for the missing man.

“He is familiar with this area from his childhood,” Wayne Byrd, Darlington County Sherriff said.

The bicycle that James was riding was found Saturday, but deputies still need the public's help to locate him. Officials said he is a black male that stands 5-feet-7-inches and weighs 130 pounds. He was reportedly last seen wearing blue jeans, green shirt with yellow, and possibly a grey or blue jacket around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Officials said James left the 800 block of Mineral Springs in Darlington riding a dark blue ladies bicycle. Officials say they found the bicycle James was riding was found in the Dovesville area. He is believed to still be in the Dovesville and Society Hill area, officials say.  He has a history of Dementia, according to officials.

Although James suffers from dementia, family members said he would ride his bike every day to get to get out and about.

"He'd ride his bike with a helmet on and come back home,” Bertha Hollman James, cousin of Moise James said.

Family members say they are growing more worried because of the rise in temperatures the week is bringing.

“I think right now the temperature is getting a little warmer and in the woods it's hard to survive,” Hollman James said.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mr. James please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Darlington County Sheriffs Office at 843-398-4501 or 843-398-4920.
