Man missing for 7 years, GCSO still searching

Georgetown, SC - GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – The Georgetown Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a 52-year-old man who has been missing for seven years.

Garrett "Gary" Hughes has been missing since Nov. 27, 2003. Originally from Fayetteville, NC, Hughes disappeared from the Manor House, an Independent Living Facility in Georgetown.

His family believes he might have been trying to return home to Fayetteville.

Hughes has short-term memory loss and was on medication for seizures and other health issues. He suffered two blows to the head when he was around 30-years-old and doesn't remember things that have occurred since.

Hughes is described as being 5'9" and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweat suit at the time of his disappearance and was 45-years-old at the time.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hughes is asked to contact the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at 843-546-5102.
