Work to begin on bridge in North Strand

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Crews are reminding drivers of upcoming traffic delays.

The City of North Myrtle Beach said that beginning Jan. 5, residents can expect delays on Barefoot Bridge.

Only one lane will be open on the bridge, which sits on Barefoot Resort Bridge Road near Highway 17. The lane restriction is expected to last through January.

Officials say people in the area should plan for delays and use caution.

The work is for the bridge’s annual maintenance.
