Patrol cars were seen barricading Peachtree Street NE at the intersection of Andrew Young International Boulevard NE. Police said the man at the hotel refused to leave and may have been armed.
“I haven’t experienced anything like this,” Yereni Valero, who is staying in a hotel in downtown Atlanta, said. “I just got concerned ... Brown University had a shooting the other day and we just saw the news about it last night, so I think when the times we’re living in ... you can’t help but be alarmed or cautious about what’s going on.”
SWAT team members arrived at the hotel around 4 p.m.
No other details were released.
