SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A sensory-friendly arcade in Surfside Beach has “made the difficult decision” to close at the end of the year.

Non-profit Beachfront Blessings announced Tuesday that the sensory-friendly arcade, Low Tide Gaming, will be closing after less than a year.

The arcade, which was opened in June by the non-profit, said they hoped to create a sustainable space that met the need for more sensory-friendly environments in the area.

However, even with this business closing, Beachfront Blessings says it will “continue moving forward strong, with a focus on placing communication boards for nonverbal individuals throughout Horry County.”

The organization thanked everyone for supporting and believing in what they are trying to build, also announcing that it will be having a “gaming yard sale” sometime in January.
