NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Preparations are underway for an upcoming beach renourishment project in the North Strand.

The City of North Myrtle Beach said that in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the street end of Sea Mountain Highway has been designated as the primary staging and mobilization area for materials, piping, and heavy equipment.

The former Pelican Motel property will be utilized to stage project materials, while the city will use the 7th Avenue South street end to store additional equipment necessary for the operation, according to North Stand officials.

“Remember that beach renourishment is not only smart to do for our beaches, but a crucial process that will continue to bring back the health our beaches need,” said the city.

Heavy machinery will be present and visitors are urged to follow all on-site instructions when accessing the beach near the staging area.
