Matchup set for Coker women’s basketball team at D2 Elite Eight

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (WMBF) - The Coker University women’s basketball team’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II tournament will continue next week.

After winning the Southeast Regional on Monday, the Cobras earned a bid to the Elite Eight in Pittsburgh. Matchups were formally announced Wednesday, as Coker will take on Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Coker earned its first-ever bid to the tournament as an at-large selection. The Cobras went 26-6 on the season before falling in the finals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

Coker then defeated Belmont Abbey and Carson-Newman in the first two rounds of the national tournament before downing North Georgia in the regional final and earning a spot in the national quarterfinal.

Monday’s game will tip off at noon and air on ESPN+.
