‘Doing the right thing’: Myrtle Beach mechanic helps customers misled by another service
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - There’s now a silver lining to dozens of customers who claim they’ve paid the price after being misled by Mr. and Mrs. Mobile Mechanic.
This is a story WMBF News first brought you on Monday and it’s one we’ve continued to follow all week.
On Thursday, Myrtle Beach Mobile Mechanics helped a family who had been misled by a different mechanic, Mr. and Mrs. Mobile Mechanics.
“I want to do whatever I can to help people. Especially those that have been wronged,” Myrtle Beach Mobile Mechanics owner, Asher Linde said. “I came out to look at why the vehicle wouldn’t start.”
On Thursday Linde diagnosed a car that belongs to the Bentley Family, who WMBF News introduced you to on Monday. That family claims Mr. and Mrs. Mobile Mechanic Charged them hundreds of dollars, left without repairing their car and then started dodging their calls.
After WMBF News’ story aired, dozens more alleged victims have come forward with a few similar situations. Linde said it’s something that’s not sitting right with him.
“I decided to come out here because I try to do whatever I can to instill faith in mechanics because everybody I’ve dealt with has had some type of horror story about some mechanic that has wronged them at some point in their life and it hurts me to know my profession is tarnished,” said Linde.
The Bentley Family said they’re forever grateful for Linde’s help, as he is helping to get them back on the right track.
“Having our car up and running, that’s a blessing. It’s an absolute blessing,” said Jennifer Bentley.
However, Myrtle Beach Mobile Mechanics isn’t stopping with just the Bentley Family, Linde is now offering anyone wronged by Mr. and Mrs. Mobile Mechanic a 20% discount. It’s an act of kindness Linde said is helping him break the industry’s bad stigma.
“I think I’m doing the right thing and that helps me sleep at night and just makes me feel like a good person and I think that’s what we all need to feel,” said Linde.
Along with helping people misled by other mechanics, Myrtle Beach Mobile Mechanics also matches donations on repairs to raise money for Kind Keepers Animal Rescue in Little River.
Additionally, Myrtle Beach Mobile Mechanics gave advice when looking for a mechanic they said to make sure they’re licensed and insured.
Mr. and Mrs. Mobile Mechanic’s website was removed as of Tuesday evening.
