FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) - A massive fire at a Pee Dee apartment complex left nearly 30 displaced the night before Christmas Eve.

The West Florence Fire Department said crews responded at 10:30 p.m. Monday to the fire at the 600 block of Coventry Lane.

The department also shared multiple photos of the blaze:

The WFFD said the fire was contained after around two-and-a-half hours, but eight apartments were seriously damaged.

One person was also treated for injuries at the scenes and was taken to a hospital.

The American Red Cross said later Tuesday morning that it is helping 15 people by providing financial assistance “for immediate needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, along with referrals to much-needed resources.”

Officials also said Tuesday that the Palmetto Street Church of God will be taking donations for those impacted by the fire.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

Crews from the City of Florence Fire Department, Howe Springs Fire Department, Darlington County Fire Department, Sardis-Timmonsville Fire Department and the South Lynches Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
