Body found in Williamsburg Co. connected to weekend shooting in Lake City

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Deputies are investigating after a body was found in Williamsburg County and believed to be connected to a Florence County shooting.

Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on Rae Street in Lake City Sunday night. Deputies arrived at the scene and could not find a victim or suspect.

Joye said on Monday a body was discovered just over 4 miles away in Williamsburg County on Patty Road and believed to be connected to the shooting the night prior.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office is now working with the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation.

Joye said no suspect is in custody and the victim has not yet been identified.
