ANDREWS, SC (WMBF) - A warrant has been issued for Dominic Leggette, 20, of Andrews. According to the Andrews Police Department, Leggette is being charged with murder and assault and battery with intent to kill.

Investigator Eddie Lee with the Andrews Police Department said between 10:30 and 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night, Leggette shot and killed Antonio Tisdale, 22, with a 38-caliber handgun at the intersection of Main and Farr streets in Andrews.

The incident stemmed from an ongoing argument between the two, according to Lee. He said another minor was also shot in the ankle during the dispute.

According to reports, Tisdale died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Lee said witnesses on the scene were able to quickly identify Leggette as the shooter.

Police are actively searching for Leggette, who is considered armed and dangerous. His last known address is listed along Russell Road in Georgetown County.

Lee said he has known Tisdale all his life.

"He came from a good family, he's a decent young man, and that shouldn't have happened to him," Lee said. "Somebody is dead and someone has to answer for that."

Lee has worked for the Andrews Police Department for 22 years. He said when a tragedy happens in a small community everyone feels the pain.

"Anytime you work in a community you just can't care about some of the people," he said.  "I love all the people in Andrews and I'm trying to do my best to resolve this case."

Anyone with additional information on Wednesday night's shooting or the location of Leggette should contact 911 immediately.
