SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) -- It's one of the biggest sporting weekends in South Carolina and business owners throughout the Grand Strand said they'll be keeping busy all weekend long.
As tourism season starts to wind down, football season is just kicking off.
On top of that the big race in Darlington has many sports bars packed throughout Horry County.
"As a business it helps us tremendously, we have such a good time all winter long, the staff gets so excited," said Maribeth Lamuraglia, a manager at Dagwood's Deli & Sports Bar.
From Myrtle Beach to Surfside, business was booming as the Gamecocks kicked off their season against CCU, the Clemson Tigers also in action.
Managers at both Carolina Ale House and Dagwood's Deli & Sports Bar said this is by far one of their craziest weekends with Labor Day vacationers and sports fans both local and traveling.
Which is also a huge boost heading into the shoulder season along the Grand Strand.
"It's a great place for you to come and watch the game, we are really excited it's the kick off for a whole new season for us," said Jamie Simms.
And a whole new season for the fans, some local, others from out of state.
"We took off from Columbus last night around midnight, drove straight through got here around 10:30 AM and Dagwoods was already open so I was like sweet, it worked out great plus we knew wasn't even kick off so we had to be here," said Ohio State fan, Steve Schauseil.
Plus what's football in South Carolina without Gamecocks and Tiger fans?
"I wish I was in Clemson for the season game, but of course this is a good second," said Clemson Student, Brianna Carmona.
For Gamecock fans like Mike Fenderbosch, it's not just about the game it's all about finding the right seat.
"I've establish my territory as of the last ten or twelve years, so I kind of know when to get here and know where to get stuff, so in 12 years I figure it out," said Mike Fenderbosch.
No matter what team you root for everyone has high hopes entering a new season.
