LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – There are adorable baby photos and then there are adorable baby photos taken while the little tykes are inside a massive fruit (or vegetable, depending on who you ask).

Lumberton resident Martin Davis recently snapped photos of his triples Michael, Macie and Mathieu while they were sitting inside a 175-pound watermelon.

The triplets' mother, Vickie Jones, helped to get them positioned for the Aug. 5 photo shoot.

Davis said he used to grow large watermelons, but admits he hasn't taken on the task in about eight or nine years. Then, he found out he was having children and suddenly the motivation was there to restart an old hobby.

According to Davis, his children were born on March 28 within the same minutes. The watermelons were planted in the beginning of April.

The one used for the photo is the largest Davis has ever grown. He said he first weighed it on a bathroom scale before taking it to a certified one to verify the gargantuan crop's 175-pound weight.
