Lumberton man killed by train after driving around railroad signals

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - A man was killed Saturday morning after authorities say he drove around railroad signals and was struck by an oncoming train.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol 33-year-old Dusty Bryant of Lumberton was ejected from his vehicle after the Amtrak train struck his Honda near Highway 72 in Pembroke around 4:49 am.

Authorities are not sure what caused Bryant to ignore the railroad signals.

NCHP and Amtrak are currently investigating the incident.
