MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One man was taken to the hospital Tuesday following a water rescue that began after he was hit by a boat propeller, according to Sgt. Philip Cain with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Cain said the victim was on a parasail boat when he was somehow hit by the propeller.
A Horry County Fire Rescue medic unit transported the victim to the hospital. According to Mark Nugent with HCFR, the victim suffered a partial amputation. He added he did not know which part of the body was affected.
Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue Lt. Jonathan Evans said three ocean rescue units were called to the scene near Third Avenue South.
Evans said he did not have specifics about the man's injuries, other than they were severe.
Cain said the Coast Guard and the Department of Natural Resources will investigate.
