Consider This: Great things are happening in the Grand Strand!

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Great things are happening in our community and I want to make sure those accomplishments are recognized.

First, the passing of Ride III.  Horry County residents saw the importance of this initiative for the continued growth of our infrastructure. The projects will make a huge impact on our quality of life by relieving congestion, creating jobs and improving safety on the roads.

Second, the Horry County Police department successfully targeted and arrested more than 30 people in a narcotics operation.  The heroin epidemic is destroying lives and Chief Joe Hill is leading the charge to put a stop to it.  His message: if you commit a crime, we're coming after you.

Also, congratulations to the Horry Georgetown Technical College for the opening of its new International Culinary School. The $17 million facility will train 400 chefs each year with state-of-the-art technology.  Another very cool feature is a student-operated restaurant that opens in just a few days.

Consider This: with the recent feelings of uncertainty and divide that many of us have experienced, we have a lot to be thankful for and to be proud of here in the Grand Strand - leaders and residents dedicated to guiding our future.
