MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – For the first time ever, nearly the entire store front of the Coventry Crossing shopping plaza in The Market Common area is full.
"I was shocked. I was just like, 'Wow, there's a lot of places coming in,'" said Tan Nguyen, owner of Posh Nails.
Those at Posh Nails have been asked countless times why a shopping plaza so centrally located has been so empty.
However, with the boom in development on Farrow Parkway and it being so close to The Market Common, there is no question new businesses took notice.
"We really enjoy the community here, and we know it's growing, and that's really important and we just really want to grow with it," said Bailey Turner, owner of Wine and Design.
Wine and Design just got its business license Tuesday and Turner said all of the neighbors have been more than welcoming.
"Everyone in the strip has been great. They've helped us through any questions we've had as new business owners," Turner said. "And I think they're happy we are here too, because we are bringing in our own customers and it's giving them publicity. It's been a mutual beneficiary moment."
In addition to Wine and Design, Pizza Joe's is coming soon. Additionally, the Black Dog Running Company and the Pee Dee Bicycle Shop have already set up shop in the plaza and existing business owners said it is certainly boosting Coventry Crossing's traffic.
"It's definitely picking up a lot," Ngyuen said. "We have different kind of clientele now that, you know, run or do a sporting activity that will come and get their pedicures done."
There is one store going out of business in the plaza but shop owners are not worried. They believed it would only open up more space for all their new neighbors.
