Coyote put down after running wild through Myrtle Beach Airport
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A coyote was running loose inside the Myrtle Beach International Airport Tuesday morning until it was subdued with a taser and captured, airport officials confirmed. The Department of Natural Resources said the animal was put down after it was captured.
The coyote made its way into the terminal at about 10:30 a.m., according to Horry County Police, and Horry County Animal Control officers were dispatched to capture the animal.
The coyote entered the terminal through the baggage area, then ran across the ticket check-in area to the TSA security checkpoint where it was cornered and "tased" by animal control, according to airport spokesman Kirk Lovell.
DNR took custody of the 60-pound animal, Lovell said. It was removed from the airport and was put down, according to Sgt. Nate Hudson with DNR. He says they are required to put down nuisance animals once captured.
