HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A school bus was stopped near Loris Thursday afternoon after a student on board made statements about having a gun, officials said. No gun was found on the student or on the bus.
The bus was stopped on Green Sea Road at Coats Road at about 1:10 p.m., and police were called, according to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police.
HCPD responded and searched the bus, and the 15-year-old student who made the statements, but nothing was found, according to Lt. Denis and Teal Harding with Horry County Schools. The student was taken back to the school and was charged with disturbing schools.
The bus driver claimed the student made statements about shooting the gun, Lt. Denis said.
This is the last day of school for Horry County Schools, and the bus was carrying high school, middle school and elementary school students returning home after a half day.
