MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - In the months before summer, a lot of people tend to look for jobs. A new hotel is looking to meet that demand
Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the Hilton Ocean 22 Hotel being built on Ocean Boulevard. Management has about 90 positions to fill before opening day. Positions range from front desk and housekeeping to engineering and security.
Management positions are also available in each of those fields, and it looks like there a lot of demand for those jobs.
Applicants who checked out a job fair Tuesday were lined up out the door to interview for the jobs.
Erik Johnson, General Manager of the Hilton Ocean 22 said the plan is to hire locally for each position.
"Today is critical," Johnson said. "And it's great to see the large amount of people that are here. We need good workers, we need them ready to go. We're opening a new building. So to be able to facilitate that and take care of our customers is a key objective. So I think from what I see today and what flow is coming in, we're going to achieve that."
