Myrtle Beach woman is dead following accident on US 378

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach woman is dead following a fatal motor vehicle accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to an accident Monday morning that resulted in one fatality. According to SCHP, a two vehicle collision occurred on US 378 at the Pee Dee Highway intersection around 6:30 a.m.
Corporal Sonny Collins reported that the driver of a 2006 Ford SUV was traveling east on the highway, The driver attempted to make a left turn in a private drive, and failed to yield the right of way in front of a 2001 Ford. The driver of that vehicle suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
Horry County coroner, Tony Hendrick identified the deceased as Melanie Boyer, 32, of Myrtle Beach. Boyer died at Conway Medical Center at 8:25 a.m, from internal injuries.
The driver of the SUV was wearing a seat belt, Boyer was not.
The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital. There was also a passenger in the vehicle with Boyer, and that individual was transported to a local hospital.
SCHP reported the intersection was blocked off for a few hours, but is now open.
SCHP is currently investigating this accident.
