Consider This: Investigation on Highway 814

Recently police blocked a portion of an Horry County road for 3 hours with no explanation.

It happened on Highway 814 on Friday night.

Questions started coming into the WMBF Newsroom from people living nearby who were not allowed to go to their homes and who saw police officers patrolling the area.

It created speculation that it was related to the Heather Elvis case, but it also created concern that something was going on in the area that was a danger to neighbors.

We could not get any answers from law enforcement.

Consider This: It took four days of relentless calls, emails and inquiries ….until the Solicitor's office finally told us that it was related to the Heather Elvis investigation.

We understand there gag order in place on this case. And we all understand that information about ongoing investigations cannot be released.

What is unacceptable is that the lack of communication caused unnecessary fear, speculation and uncertainty for our community.
