MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A proposal for roundabouts is being discussed by a Myrtle Beach engineer in an effort to cut down on traffic accidents at busy intersections.

The roundabouts will be placed in an area - prone to severe accidents, and the placement of the roundabouts will bring traffic to a stop before crossing, according to Patrick Sadek, city engineer.

The four potential locations are off Grissom Parkway at 17th Avenue South, 21st Avenue, 29th Avenue and Joe White Avenue.

Roundabouts are not popular amongst some Horry County drivers. Coastal Carolina Police admit the severity of crashes have reduced, but claim more accidents have occurred since installing the circular intersections near CCU.

Tune in at 5 a.m., as Alex Holley explains what will have to take place before drivers see more roundabouts on the Grand Strand.
