It's exciting when your school wins a national championship or your favorite professional team captures the league title. But the excitement from the game can quickly turn ugly… win or lose.
U Conn won the NCAA national basketball championship this week and the streets filled with revelers. That should be expected and encouraged. It's a reason to celebrate.
However, what should have been an amazing night in Connecticut turned ugly when fans destroyed property as part of the celebration. And Kentucky fans, after their own night of destruction when they beat in-state rival Louisville, began rioting and destroying property when the team lost to UConn. It seems UK fans think destruction goes with winning or losing.
Celebrating is great. It's fun to enjoy a victory. But that celebration should not include destroying property and injuring people.
