Police: Man rear ended, robbed at knifepoint

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are searching for three suspects in a fender bender-turned-armed robbery Wednesday night.

Police reports obtained by WMBF News show a man was returning to his home after shopping at the Bi-Lo on 38th Avenue North. When he turned into his 48th Avenue neighborhood, the man told police a white sedan clipped his bumper on the driver's side.

The man said he got out to inspect the damage, as did three men from the other car. But, the man told police, the men brandished knives and demanded his money.

The man told police he handed over his cash and credit cards, but pointed out the men did not harm him, nor did they threaten to.

The license plate of the white sedan was covered up, but the man said a license plate on the front read "Paula Patton."

Myrtle Beach Police Captain David Knipes told WMBF News an almost identical robbery occurred a little later in Horry County's jurisdiction.

The man described the three suspects as two 6'1" black men with short hair weighing 230 pounds. Another suspect was described as a smaller black man weighing about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
