FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Two men were arrested by the Florence County Sheriff's Office and charged with Armed Robbery stemming from an incident that occurred early Sunday morning, according to a statement from the FCSO.

Matthew Franks Thomas, 23, from Florence and Rayquan Lamonte Taylor, 17, from Florence were arrested in connection with the robbery of a convenience store on Hoffmeyer Road in Florence.

Investigators said the two men entered the store around 2:30 a.m. wearing masks and demanding money from the store clerk at gunpoint.

After making away with an undetermined amount of money and merchandise, the two suspects fled the scene. Shortly after, FCSO Tracking Canines tracked the suspects to an apartment complex where the suspects were arrested, and the stolen items recovered.

In South Carolina, armed robbery is a felony punishable by no less than 10 years, and no more than 30 years in prison.

Both Taylor and Thomas are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $30,000 surety bonds. Thomas is also being held on a Magistrates Court bench warrant.
