MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A North Carolina man has turned himself in to Myrtle Beach Police to face charges for criminal sexual conduct with a minor over a year after reportedly committing that crime while vacationing in the Grand Strand.
According to a police report, 34-year-old Erich Anton Engel returned to Cary, NC after a vacation in Myrtle Beach when a woman told police about alleged sexual crimes with a young child in the Palmetto Shores Motel during July 2012.
On July 12, 2012, the City of Cary Police contacted Myrtle Beach Police about what had been reported to them. Detectives went to the motel to look for Engel, but found the room had already been rented to someone else.
On October 1, 2013, Engel turned himself in to Myrtle Beach Police to face charges for third degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
