Rain washes out preseason football jamborees

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The 24th annual CNB Kickoff Classic has been canceled due to the heavy rain falling over the Grand Strand. The jamboree scheduled to take place at Doug Shaw Stadium will not be made up. The following teams were scheduled to compete:

Socastee vs. Aynor
Waccamaw vs. St. James
North Myrtle Beach vs. Conway
Carolina Forest vs. Green Sea Floyds
Myrtle Beach vs. Loris

All teams but Myrtle Beach will begin their respective seasons in Week Zero on Friday, August 23rd. The Seahawks have the week off, and will play ten consecutive regular season games without a bye week.

Lake City's jamboree, featuring Lake City, Marion, Lee Central and C.E. Murray has also been canceled due to inclement weather.

The Florence Jamboree at Memorial Stadium is canceled as well. That was to feature West Florence, South Florence, Wilson and Blythewood.

Make-up plans for those two jamborees have not yet been determined.

The Dennis Miller Jamboree of Champions, scheduled to kick off in Bennettsville is still scheduled to be played tonight, with the following schedule:

Manning vs. Carvers Bay, 5 p.m.
Cheraw vs. Darlington, 6 p.m.
Chesterfield vs. Hartsville, 7 p.m.
Dillon vs. Central, 8 p.m.
Lamar vs. Marlboro County, 9 p.m.

The Geathers Family Jamboree at Carvers Bay High School is still on as planned for Saturday, the 17th. Games begin at 6 p.m.:

Hemingway vs. Waccamaw
Johnsonville vs. Andrews
Mullins vs. Georgetown
Kingstree vs. Carvers Bay
