Fire victims encouraged to take donations from X Sports Mall

Gym to remain open to collect donations, hold sale for fire victims

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - With the huge influx of donations from the community for victims of the Carolina Forest Fire, organizers are asking for help to reach out to the families that need these supplies.

One organizer, Nicole Couilliard, says the response from the community to provide for the families affected by the March 16 fire in the Windsor Green community has been outstanding.

The donations from Ron Jon's has almost exceeded the area they have been allotted in the X-Sports Mall, where several organizations have collected the supplies for victims.

Organizers say, however, that the families affected that have come to the warehouse for the necessary items have so far only taken one or two things - and in toothpaste alone they have 2,000 tubes!

"NO!! Stock up!!! There is Plenty to go around to the families!!! Help these people think about FUTURE needs not just NOW needs," Couilliard insists.

You can continue to donate items to Ron Jon's - which will be delivered to the X Sports Mall - until Saturday.

The mountain of supplies need to be doled out to those that need them by next month, when the sports complex is reserved for another event.

On March 29 and March 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., they will hold a Community Yard Sale at The X Sports Mall. ALL money raised will go DIRECTLY to each family that was affected by the Carolina Forest Fire.

After the Community Yard Sale all remaining items will go to Goodwill and the food will go to Helping Hands.

If you were affected by the Carolina Forest Fire or know someone who was and needs these clothing, toiletries and other necessary household supplies, please send them to the X Sports Mall on George Bishop Parkway to collect what they need.
