ATLANTIC BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Crews with Horry County Fire Rescue battled a fire in a motel in the Atlantic Beach area Tuesday morning.

HCFR Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins reports that fire was showing from the two story motel building on 30th Avenue South in Atlantic Beach when crews arrived shortly before 11 a.m.

Photos of the fire sent in to our newsroom show heavy flames and smoke extruding from the building.

HCFR spokesman Leslie Yancey says the fire sparked in a vacant two story hotel, and investigators are responding to the scene to determine a possible cause.
