MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) On Aug. 16 the Myrtle Beach Pelicans made history by becoming the first Minor League Baseball team to offer paperless ticketing.
The new state-of-the-art 2D ticket scanner allows fans to enjoy the game they love without the need for a paper ticket, which makes it possible for fans to purchase and scan a ticket directly from a smart phone bypassing the need to wait in will call lines or require the use of a printer.
The Pelicans in conjunction with TicketReturn.com will offer this free service for the remainder of the 2012 season and for years to come, and is available to all Pelicans' fans with a smart phone and internet access.
"Mobile ticket delivery is the technology that shows the most promise for doing away with the cost and waste of printed paper tickets," remarked TicketReturn.com Vice President of Marketing Gordon Hirsch.
If you would like more information on how to use this feature, please contact Pelicans Director of Ticketing, Zach Brockman at 843-918-6017 or zbrockman@myrtlebeachpelicans.com.
The Pelicans close out the regular season and prepare for the Carolina League playoffs over Labor Day weekend with a series against the Northern Division's First Half Champion Lynchburg Hillcats, the Atlanta Braves High-A affiliate.
