One dead, two injured from boating accident in Horry Co.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) One man is dead Saturday evening after a boating accident on the Cox Ferry Lake area of the Waccamaw River.

Department of Natural Resources Lieutenant Robert McCullough tells WMBF News three people were in a boat when it ran into some trees around 7p.m.

One female was transported by helicopter to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, the other female was transported to the same hospital by ambulance. A male victim died at the scene. 

The helicopter landed at S.C. Highway 544 and West Cox Ferry Road and stopped traffic temporarily.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says 23-year-old Brandon Stevens of the Conway area.  An autopsy will be performed Sunday morning. 

DNR is still investigating the incident and interviewing witnesses on scene to get more information.
