MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – State Treasurer Curtis Loftis took to the streets to make sure South Carolinians are getting the money they're owed. Are you one of them?
The Palmetto Payback Hometown Tour stopped in Florence and Myrtle Beach Tuesday to meet with South Carolinians who may have a share of the $300 million in unclaimed property in South Carolina.
The treasurer's first stop in Florence was at Bazen's Family Restaurant at noon. He then headed to the Grand Strand Senior Center at 5 p.m.
Nearly $80 million has been returned to citizens in South Carolina in the past decade, but right now the state holds $300 million in unclaimed accounts.
There's a simple way to find out if you're one of the many with a share of those unclaimed properties. Visit the state treasurer's website to find out if you have unclaimed property in South Carolina or any other state.
