From Myrtle Beach International Airport

MYRTLE BEACH, SC On Thursday, January 26, Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremonies began at 11 a.m. for the Harrelson Boulevard extension project. The project will connect Bypass 17 to Kings Highway (Business 17) adjacent to the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Constructions costs are $8.9 million, and the project was a community partnership between Horry County (Department of Airports), the City of Myrtle Beach, the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority, and the County Transportation Committee (CTC).  MB Kahn served as the Program Manager.  In all there were  22 local contractors and subcontractors participating.

Speakers will include officials, from the City of Myrtle Beach, Horry County, the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority.  Also speaking is Colonel LeRoy Harrelson, Jr., son of the first Mayor of the City Myrtle Beach, of whom the road is named after.

To attend the event, please enter Harrelson Boulevard from the current entrance near the Highway 15 intersection.  Law enforcement will direct attendees to park.
