DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A single car accident Monday evening has left one Hartsville man dead.

According to Cpl. Bob Baras with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a single car collision occurred on Kelleytown Road in Darlington on Monday evening shortly after 8 p.m. when the driver of a 2006 Chevy traveling northbound ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and crossed to the left side of the road striking a mailbox and a tree. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, Baras said.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has identified the driver of that vehicle as 29-year-old Michael Antone Thomas of Hartsville.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
