MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) A group of Secret Santas are targeting stores across the nation and in Myrtle Beach, finding layaway bills that need to be paid off and giving families the gift of a dream Christmas.

Managers at Myrtle Beach-area Kmarts and Walmarts say several people have walked into their stores offering to pay off any layaways with toys on the list.

Kmart managers say Secret Santas have paid for at least 15 layaway bills. The store manager at the Walmart on Seaboard Street said it's happened once in her store, when a woman paid more than $600 toward two layaways.

"She basically said she wanted to help somebody because she could do that and so we took care of her. I was crying, my layaway associates were crying. She was crying," said Nicole Rana, store manager at Walmart.

Sandee Woodruff was a benefactor of the anonymous woman and she said she can't thank her enough.

Woodruff said she and her husband both work, but providing her five children the Christmas they dream of is always difficult. Before she got a call that her balance was paid she wasn't going to pick up the gifts.

"I knew it was going to happen now and it was all because of this kind-hearted woman who went in the store and conducted a selfless act," said Woodruff.

In each of the cases, the donors have remained anonymous.
