Pink fire trucks roll into MB, support cancer research
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Pink fire trucks rolled into Myrtle Beach Monday supporting the Pink Heals tour, a nationwide group of firefighters and police officers who tour the country to raise awareness about cancer and the women who fight the disease.
"My mother is fighting cancer," says firefighter Matthew Medeiros, who traveled all the way from Rhode Island with the Pink Heals tour. "To see these trucks is such an inspiration to her."
Each pink fire truck and police car is covered in permanent marker, where supporters have left tributes to cancer fighters and words of hope and inspiration. In each town the tour visits, they work to raise money for cancer research.
"Pink heals is all about supporting women," Medeiros says. "We raise funds and we keep those funds within the community."
The Pink Heals tour rolled into the Myrtle Beach area this morning at eight o'clock, and the trucks will be on display at 9th Avenue North until eight o'clock tonight.
