FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a fatal accident that killed one Tuesday afternoon.
Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said the accident occurred at 3:45 p.m. along the dirt portion of Railroad Avenue near Johnsonville.
A GMC Envoy reportedly ran off the side of the roadway and struck a tree, killing the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.
Collins said the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the SCHP. The driver's identity is not available at this time. WMBF News will provide those details as they become available.
