Dark-clothed pedestrian killed by car on Hwy 22

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A man was struck and killed late Saturday night while walking on Highway 22 between Wampee and Conway, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said 51-year-old Henry Ford of the Longs area was struck at approximately 9:17p.m. by a 2005 Ford Taurus driven by an Aynor woman as she was traveling west. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Highway Patrol also reported that Ford was a Black man wearing dark clothing.

Ford was walking in the left lane of Highway 22 near the intersection of Highway 90. No known charges have been placed on the driver at this time.

The incident is still under investigation by the SCHP.
