FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 41-year-old Pennsylvania man has died following an early morning car accident along Interstate 95 Monday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said the accident occurred along I-95 near the 150 mile marker just before 5 a.m. when a 2002 Land Rover travelling southbound ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
A passenger in the vehicle was killed in the collision, according to Collins, while the driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews has identified the victim as Robert Danield of Swiftwater, PA. Matthews said Danield was sleeping in the backseat of the car at the time of the accident.
He died as a result of multiple body trauma as well as head injury.
The accident remains under investigation by the SCHP.
