MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Officials with the Myrtle Beach International Airport are warning drivers about more lane shifts at the airport starting Monday.

Lauren Morris, spokeswoman for the airport, says traffic exiting the airport will now be diverted to the same service road where drivers now enter, which cuts around the old airport entrance at Harrelson Boulevard.

Monday the last of the signs were posted alerting drivers of the change, while officers were also in place to direct traffic once the shift went into effect.

Airport officials ask that drivers pay extra attention while coming and going at the airport and stick to the 15 mph speed limit in the construction zone.

Morris says she's unsure exactly how long drivers will need to exit using the service road, but things should stay that way at least until the end of the summer.

This latest lane shift is to allow crews better access to the construction sites for the airport expansion as well as the work on Harrelson Boulevard.

Overall drivers seem to think airport traffic is moving smoothly since the change.

"After you do it a couple of times you know where it's at, but it's pretty smooth though," said taxi driver Mike Allsbrook .
