Horry Co. students hope to reel in "The Big One"

Garden City, SC - GARDEN CITY, SC (WMBF) - A fishing trip in Garden City has more than 30 special needs students from across Horry County hoping to reel in the biggest catch of the day.

Toomey's Kids invited the students from Socastee High School and Waccamaw High School to participate in a day full of sun, fun and fishing at the Garden City Pier.

Volunteers with Toomey's Kids and student aides helped the students cast their fishing lines into the water and reel in any catches.

During last year's outing, the organization said students caught 42 fish at the pier.

Organizers say they hope the reels, tackle and bait provided by the Garden City Pier will help the students beat their goal of catching more than 50 fish.
